Class Careers win the Baldwins Kick Start 2013 Midlands Youth Entrepreneur Award

Winning the Kickstart 2013 Youth Entrepreneur Award was a wonderful end to a great night for the Class Careers team.

The fabulous evening launched with presentations including a moving speech from the mother of Harry Moseley regarding his cancer research campaign ‘Help Harry Help Others’, fellow entrepreneurs and David Baldwin, Director at Baldwins Accountants.

Following this, presentations from the three finalists initiated, to win the grand prize of £20,000. After plenty of thoughtful consideration, the judges announced the verdict and crowned Class Careers winners of the 2013 Midlands Youth Entrepreneur Award.

Christos Orthodoxou, Co-founder and Head of Business Partnerships Class Careers said, “I am so proud of what Class Careers has become; it is wonderful to watch it grow from strength to strength. We are extremely excited to work with Baldwins Accountants to learn, grown and further improve our business”.

Anisa Haghdadi, Co-Founder and Head of School Partnerships commented, “Winning the competition has still not sunk in; words cannot describe how happy I am! It was an evening which will go down in history for Class Careers”.

Class Careers is changing the way school leaver recruitment and careers talks in schools are carried out. Its mission is to connect school leavers aged 16-19 directly to employers through the power of live webinars, streamed from their offices directly to school classrooms across the country.

To date, the team has enjoyed great success. They are beginning to work with a number of employers including Pinsent Masons LLP and they have received support and grants from Unltd and BSEEN, part financed by the European Regional Development Fund at Aston University.

Class Careers’s vision is to be a national company which helps every school leaver kickstart their career and which helps employers recruit top talent. Winning the competition will allow Class Careers to take one step closer to realising this vision.

Underpinning all of this is access to mentoring. The team are keen to learn from people who have built their business from scratch – just like David and John Baldwin.

David Baldwin, Partner at Baldwins Accountants, said “Connecting talent between schools and employers is extremely important and for Class Careers winning the Baldwins Kick Start scheme is just the start. We will be nurturing and supporting this fantastic business to help it grow and progress over the coming months and years”.
