A BSEEN (Birmingham Skills for Enterprise and Employability Network) business with a difference has launched in style at the Pershore Plumb Festival.
Sports graduate James Fedden has combined his love of baking with his passion for vintage vehicles, to create the Cake Doctor, baker of exquisite cakes, desserts and biscuits, all lovingly served from a 1979 Ford Transit Mark 2 ambulance.
The unique refurbished catering vehicle is available to hire for all your outside events including proms, birthday parties, christenings, weddings, hen parties and many more. It comes fully equipped with a made in Birmingham Fracino espresso machine. The Cake Doctor specialises in high quality luxury cakes, including gluten free and vegan. Based in Worcestershire the Cake Doctor can travel to most locations in the West Midlands.
James said, “I have always loved baking and tinkering about with old vehicles. I have renovated some classic cars in the past but never an ambulance! When I heard about the BSEEN programme and the support available to start-up a business I thought it was a great opportunity to combine my two passions. The BSEEN programme has provided the guidance and support I needed to get this venture off the ground”.
Carolyn Keenan, BSEEN Project Manager said “We have some weird and wonderful ideas pitched to us to join BSEEN. This one was unique. However as soon as we met James we knew he had the enthusiasm and determination to make the Cake Doctor a reality. The cake samples he brought in demonstrated he really is an excellent pastry chef.”
