Entrepreneur of the Month: Green Sisters
This month’s featured entrepreneurs are sisters Reena and Geeta Salhan, founders of Green Sisters.
Reena attended Aston University where she studied BSc International Business and Economics with an integrated Industrial Placement.
Geeta studied BSc Chemistry at the University of Leeds and is currently working towards her MSc in Nutritional Therapy.
In Reena’s words: “Green Sisters is about us; two sisters who are mad about food and love to share! It all stems from our family values and culture – where food isn’t just about eating, it’s about sharing the experience too. Along the way, we have been challenged by nature and genetics, to consider how we can bring the vital sharing culture to those who have limited dining experiences due to dietary requirements. As such we cater to gluten free, vegetarian and egg free diets. Our mission is to help you to feel guided and good about the food you eat daily. To make it both easier and simpler for you and people you care about to find something enticing to eat, easy to reproduce, which you feel is safe and can be trusted, without compromise!”
What’s been your proudest moment?
“To see our customers faces light up at the surprise that they can now enjoy another product, gluten free, which they have missed out on sharing since diagnosis.”
What do you think you have learnt the most from your BSEEN journey?
“To be open to all opportunities and take advantage of all of the resources available as you never know where it may lead you.”
Any advice for entrepreneurial students or graduates that are thinking about starting a business?
“Go for it! What do you have to lose? If you have an idea, that you are passionate about and are willing to work hard to make a success then I would definitely encourage you to pursue this idea.”
Most supportive part of the BSEEN programme?
“BSEEN have provided us with opportunities to be involved with and network with the business community in Birmingham. The support and encouragement received from the BSEEN team at Aston University has been invaluable.”
What are your next steps for your business?
“We will continue to work on developing our product range and building our customer base. We are looking to grow and expand into our own premises within the next 12 months.”
